Help Michelle & Walter Save Their Home for Their Grandchildren
Hi, my name is Sheilah, and I’m a 73-year-old mother and grandmother reaching out on behalf of my daughter Michelle and her husband Walter. They are kind, hardworking, and faithful people who have opened their hearts and home to raise their two grandchildren.
Michelle and Walter live in a 40-year-old double-wide mobile home, and over the past few years, they’ve been battling severe moisture issues that are now threatening their health, safety, and stability.
It all started with a bad roofing job a few years ago. Instead of fixing the problem, it made things worse. Moisture began seeping into the closets, pantry, and bathrooms. They tried using dehumidifiers, but nothing worked. This year, they recently replaced the roof again—this time correctly—and had some of the damaged wood replaced. But now, water is still seeping out of electrical outlets, light switches and the damage has spread.
A contractor recently inspected the home and confirmed that moisture has made its way into all the walls. The insulation in the attic is soaked. The crawl space underneath the house needs to be encapsulated, and their central air conditioning unit must be replaced to prevent further damage and mold.
Michelle and Walter have already spent everything they could to make repairs. They are devoted grandparents doing all they can to provide a safe and loving home, and they now find themselves overwhelmed and unsure where to turn.
If you’re able to help in any way—with a donation or by sharing their story—it would mean the world to us. Every dollar will go directly toward restoring their home and ensuring it’s safe and healthy for their grandchildren.
Thank you for reading and for your kindness.
