Greetings neighbors. We're raising funds for a family that has been known to us at Troy Sanctuary/Troy CRSC for more than six years. They have been living, working, and attending school in Troy since arriving from Chiapas, Mexico in 2021. Two years ago their sister and niece (9 years old) also came to the US, seeking political asylum, but they could not afford a lawyer to help advance the case. Just over a month ago, travelling to find work, they were abducted by ICE.
After a difficult two weeks, sick in a detention facility and denied medical care, Milagro and Alondra were deported to the Mexican border. They never saw a judge. They lost all their meager savings through this process and the ensuing journey finding their way back to Chiapas. They have no housing or job prospects -- that's why they came here. And they are very much missed here.
Here are some words from Alondra's brother, our Troy neighbor.
Any amount you can give, large or small, will help to get them fed and housed while they get back on their feet. Any amount we go over the fundraising goal will be used by Troy CRSC to help other immigrant families in need (of which there are many). Thank you so, so much.
Rich, on behalf of Troy CRSC
