Support for Michael Thornton's Family

On November 27 Michael was hit by a car while walking on Opera Drive in Santa Fe NM and killed instantly. He left behind a wife and two young daughters. Michael had Bachelor’s degrees in geography and religion, a master’s in geography and was about to receive a BS in computer science at the end of fall semester at UNM. He was working in cyber security at the time of his death.

Michael practiced spiritually as a Dzogchen Buddhist. He was an environmental enthusiast who loved skateboarding, hiking, trail-running, meditation and yoga, and was always learning something new. But more than anything, Michael loved family and if there was anything he'd want in his death it would be support for his wife and 2 girls.

His wife is Oksana Thornton (who moved here from Ukraine to be with Michael) and his daughters are Audrey, age 12, and Tehya, age 10. They currently live in Los Alamos, NM where Oksana works at the Bandelier National Park gift shop. All of the costs involved will come out of pocket for Oksana, due to no life insurance being involved. Any and all donations are greatly appreciated and will go directly to his family in New Mexico to help offset the costs of funeral services and everyday life as a single parent family. Thank you.
