Matt’s Kidney Journey

In 2014, Matt was Diagnosed with an auto immune Kidney disease called IGA Nephropathy. IGA Nephropathy occurs when IgA protein gets stuck in kidneys causing inflammation. In a nut shell, Matt’s immune system is attacking his kidneys and has been doing so for quite some time. There is no cure for the disease, and Matt will need a Kidney Transplant in the very near future.
Over the last few months, Matt’s disease has progressed rapidly. He’s been in a lot of pain and his body has become worn out and tired. He’s been in and out of the hospital with declining Kidney function.
Recently, Matt had an extended stay in the hospital fighting to improve his Kidney function, unfortunately there has been no improvement, instead they have continued to decline to the point where is his in beginning stage of Kidney Failure. Over the next several Weeks Matt will be going for routine blood work and trips to UPENN in Philly to see his Kidney Specialist. He and his family have a very long road ahead – This is just the beginning.
As everyone knows, Matt has a family at home to provide for. His wife Sarah is pregnant with their 2nd Child, due in January, and they have a 2 year old daughter, Sydney. Matt is a commission based realtor and as this journey progresses it will be difficult to work at the same pace he is used to.
