Hi, my name is Kellyn. On Thursday, September 11th, my dad, Mark Maxwell, set out for the Ocean City Maryland bike swap, excited for a weekend he’d been looking forward to.
Mark is a hands-on dad and grandpa, always there for our family and truly our rock.
On Friday, September 12th, while driving through Dover, Delaware, the back tire of his motorcycle blew out, causing him to lose control and be thrown from his bike. He wasn’t wearing a helmet and suffered a broken hand, broken ribs, a broken collar bone, and a very serious traumatic brain injury.
Mark is currently in the surgical trauma ICU at Christiana Hospital, fighting for his life. His mental state is unstable, and he doesn’t recognize his family. Doctors are keeping him sedated to help manage the brain bleeds, and the road to recovery will be long and uncertain.
My mom is retired and on disability due to her own health issues, and my dad was the sole provider for their household. With my mom now spending every day at the hospital in Delaware, our family is facing unexpected expenses for hotel stays, household bills, food, and gas. I’m raising funds to help keep my mom afloat for the next six months while she supports my dad through this critical time. Any help is truly appreciated as we navigate this life-changing situation and the financial strain it brings.
Your support will help ease the burden on my parents and allow my mom to focus on being by my dad’s side. Thank you for considering a donation and for keeping our family in your thoughts.
