Support for Mac (Miller) Fisher & baby Lemmy

Lemmy Elaine Fisher was born on August 21, weighing 2 pounds 9 ounces to parents Mackenzie (Miller) and Brennan Fisher at 31 weeks and 2 days after Mac spent a few weeks in the hospital on bedrest while dealing with severe kidney and blood pressure complications. Mac and Fish are ecstatic that Lemmy's here and that she's strong, healthy and beautiful. Lemmy will be in the NICU in Bismarck for the foreseeable future, and Mac will be back in the hospital for a kidney transplant in the coming months.

Mac has an autoimmune disease called IgA Nephropathy. It's a chronic kidney disease and usually can be managed through diet and blood pressure medications. Unfortunately, Mac has an aggressive type that cannot be managed. She was diagnosed at stage 3 and has already progressed to stage 5; we are all hoping she can get a kidney before having to start dialysis. Her nephrologist says she's an excellent candidate, as she is young and healthy (with the exception of her kidneys) and will do very well.

We are raising funds to help support this beautiful family - between Mac's extended stay while being monitored the last few weeks of her pregnancy, Lemmy's time in the NICU, and Mac's coming transplant, they will be facing significant medical costs even with insurance. Mac will also be staying in Bismarck to be near Lemmy instead of driving two hours a day to visit, and we are hoping these funds can help with those expenses and the expenses associated with her upcoming transplant and recovery.

If you know Mac, you know that she is selfless, caring, kind, goofy as heck, and someone that can make nearly anyone smile, and Fish is the same - they are a perfect match and we know Lemmy will be the third pea in their pod. The next few months are going to be full of hospitals, appointments, driving from Dickinson to Bismarck, and being apart, and we don't want these unforeseen complications to put any more pressure or stress on the Fishers at a time when things will already be complicated enough. Any support you can provide this wonderful family is so appreciated.
