M.'s partner was detained in Lawrence back in May and was taken to a detention facility in the Southwest. After a grueling wait for an asylum hearing while in detention, M’s partner lost his case and is waiting for deportation.
M. has a small two year old son who is very joyful and energetic. She is currently trying to provide for her son working two hard manual labor jobs, paying for child care, and now a sole provider. She also provides some support for her family back home in Ecuador who fled their home country as a result of political repression. On top of this she is now also paying off the debt she has acquired from legal fees from her husband’s court proceedings.
M. has gone above and beyond to fight for a positive outcome for her partner, to regain some stability and peace for her son.
M.’s ask is for support getting back on her feet during these difficult times.
