Support for Luke After the Loss of His Mother, Kelly

Donation protected
I’m writing this with a very heavy heart for Kelly's son Luke. Tragically, Luke’s mum, Kelly, passed away on February 27th, 2025, after a long and difficult battle with cancer. This loss has completely shattered Luke, who was her devoted caregiver and her closest companion.
Kelly’s journey with cancer over the past three years has been incredibly tough. In 2022, she was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of cancer called a sarcoma in her lung. She began a brutal chemotherapy regimen at the Royal Marsden and underwent inpatient treatment for five months. After that, she was scheduled for keyhole surgery at the Royal Brompton, but when they went in for the procedure, they discovered it wasn’t possible to perform it minimally. Instead, Kelly had to undergo open surgery, during which half of her lung was removed. She spent 19 days in the hospital recovering.
For a while, it seemed like Kelly was on the mend. She was told there was no sign of the cancer spreading (metastasis), and she was considered "cured." Kelly and Luke were over the moon, feeling hopeful for the future.
A couple of months later, Kelly and Luke went to a local music festival together. It was a joyful day, full of love and excitement for the future. But shortly after, everything changed. One night, as they were in the living room together, Kelly suffered a full-body seizure. Luke quickly called an ambulance, and she was taken to A&E, where further tests revealed a brain lesion in her frontal lobe.
Kelly was then diagnosed with a brain tumour that was unfortunately deemed unresectable. The tumour had spread to her adrenal gland, and she was told she was now in palliative care. She underwent some radiotherapy and was due to start some chemotherapy soon unfortunately Kellys health deteriorated after a recent chest infection and Kelly sadly lost her battle and passed away on 27th February 2025
Over the past two years, Luke became Kelly’s full-time caregiver. He put his own life on hold to nurse his mother, and anyone who knew Kelly and Luke could see just how close they were. They were more than mother and son – they were best friends. Luke is absolutely heartbroken by the loss of his mum, and now, as he faces the future without her, we want to help him rebuild his life.
We’re asking for donations to support Luke as he navigates this incredibly difficult time. The funds will go towards helping him get back on his feet, covering essential living expenses, and removing some of the financial stress he is facing. Luke has been through so much, and no one should have to deal with the burden of grief and financial strain at the same time.
Please, if you can, help Luke during this heart breaking time. Any donation, no matter how small, will make a huge difference and provide him with the support he desperately needs.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your love, generosity, and compassion.
With gratitude,
Lucy and Gemma
