Donation protected
This all started December 7th 2020, my son and his soon to be wife had their 1st child. What was suppose to be the most joyous day of their life turned into a nightmare real fast. During delivery everything was fine, things were a little complicated so they delivered by C-section. They called it a "stunned" birth which means no heartbeat and he was not breathing. They worked on him for 30 mins but finally got him back. He was put on a ventilator and rushed to Kosiar Hospital downtown Louisville. He was put on a cooling blanket for 72 hrs and then warmed back up slowly. The MRI showed damage but it is not know to what extent yet.
It's been a very trying time for all involved. It is really hard not for us not to be able to see him, his parents go everyday.
We wait everyday to hear news of what the doctors and nurse tell them (which as a grandparent is very hard!) 3 weeks later he is still in the NICU but is on a feeding tube and oxygen. They are weaning is oxygen down slowly and the speech therapist will evaluate him to see if he is ready and able to start nursing and feeding from a bottle. He is improving every day by the grace of GOD!!
Rachel is on maternity leave and my son took a couple weeks off work to be by their side. They have an hour drive each way every day to see their lil man, it's tiring, emotional and very draining on them to endure. I'm trying to ease their worries about money due to not working and the extra expenses they are incurring. It is not know what the extent of damage was done or what their medical and personnel expenses are going to be in the near future.
