Hello, my name is Julia Pullen and I am fundraising to support the family of my aunt Laura Beatty.
On September 22nd, 2025 recovering from emergency surgery for a shattered shoulder resulting from a fall, Laura experienced a fatal pulmonary embolism. Our world came crashing down and our hearts were broken. We lost a loved one unexpectedly and this day will be etched in our memory forever.
Laura was so kind, giving, and loving in every way. She was beautiful, intelligent, and took pride in being a strong, independent person.
Laura was known to be a hard working single mom of four beautiful children. They were her everything. Her priority was to provide and support her family and give them a life they deserved. Determined to do so, at one point Laura worked two full-time jobs for over a year. She was a dedicated employee of General Motors working the midnight shift, then came home each morning to wake her children up, take them to school, and turn on her laptop to work another eight hours as a legal assistant.
Work was never an issue for Laura but for the past four years unfortunately her health was.
In 2021, Laura began having serious health problems. She experienced difficulty breathing and was diagnosed with long term covid. With symptoms worsening and further testing on January 30th, 2023 Laura was diagnosed with lung cancer. She attempted to continue working however many tests and follow-up appointments became a big part of her life. With strength and courage Laura fought the cancer with intense radiation treatments and thereafter went into remission. Even though she was experiencing back pain and discomfort she was medically cleared to return to her production assembly job. Soon after, it was discovered she had three compression spinal fractures. The injuries left Laura with decreased mobility resulting in her inability to remain working.
This led to severe financial struggles and hardships relying on s&a benefits to short term disability, then long term disability, and then fighting for Canada pension plan disability that she was later denied.
With the loss of their mother, Laura's children have suffered immensely and will be greatly impacted. Our family is hoping to raise funds to make a difference in her children's lives and the support will make them feel like they're not alone while they navigate this difficult journey. Money raised will help with financial strains and provide the necessities they require to be healthy and have a bright future. This includes funds for education as well as financial assistance for unexpected expenses such as funeral arrangements.
If you made it this far, thank you for your time and interest. Any support, whether it's sharing this fundraiser or making a contribution, it's greatly appreciated.
A huge thank you from me and our family.
I will end our story with Lauras mantra..."Find happiness in each day. Make cherished memories with your loved ones. Be kind. Be grateful."
