Kristen was my partner, and she meant everything to me. For nearly two years, I was unemployed so I could care for her as she battled cancer. During her illness, I prioritized her needs above all else. One day, while picking Kristen up from Ben Taub hospital after an in-patient chemotherapy treatment, I received a speeding ticket. She always wanted me to get there quickly so she wouldn't have to wait in the discharge area, which made her feel unsafe. That ticket is now in collections, and the fines and fees have become overwhelming. We also didn't get the chance to transfer her car into my name before she passed, so there are additional costs and paperwork involved.

I am also in need of basic essentials like clothing and shoes, which I haven't been able to purchase over the past few years.
