Wenatchee Blue Family is stepping in to support one of our own during an incredibly difficult time. When one of our deputies is hurting, we come together.
K9 Ruben, a loyal and hardworking narcotics detection dog with the Chelan County Sheriff’s Office and the Columbia River Drug Task Force, has been diagnosed with cancer. This devastating news came quickly, and with it, a series of urgent medical decisions that have changed Ruben’s life.
He recently underwent emergency surgery and tragically lost his front right leg. Despite the physical toll, Ruben is recovering with the same bravery and resilience he showed every day on duty. He is not just a working dog. He is a deputy, a partner, and a beloved member of his handler’s home.
Now Ruben needs us more than ever.
He is scheduled for a critical oncology consultation at Washington State University to determine the best course of cancer treatment. From there, he will begin a six-week chemotherapy regimen through Cascade Veterinary Clinic in Wenatchee.
In addition to chemotherapy, Ruben will need:
- Ongoing lab work to monitor his health
- Physical therapy and hydrotherapy to help him regain strength and mobility
- A specialized cancer vaccine developed at WSU
- Recovery and mobility items such as a stair ramp, support harness, life jacket for water therapy, protective shirts, non slip dog shoes, and bandaging supplies
That is where we come in.
Ruben has dedicated nearly a decade to protecting this community. Wenatchee Blue Family is committed to ensuring he receives the treatment and tools he needs to heal, thrive, and continue living with the dignity he deserves.
Every donation goes directly toward Ruben’s medical care, rehabilitation, and supportive supplies.
Thank you for standing with Ruben, his handler, and the Blue Family that stands behind them.
Any remaining funds after Ruben’s recovery will be used to support other law enforcement families in crisis through our Emergency Crisis Response Fund.
