Support for Josephine & Mahmood
Donation protected

Mahmood, one of our neighbors, is currently detained and at risk of deportation. He and his wife Josephine have requested urgent community support for their family, including their newborn baby, pictured above. They have been struggling to pay rent, legal fees, and other costs while Mahmood has been in detention.
Here is Josephine's story in her own words:
My name is Josephine and I live in Waltham, Massachusetts for the past 8yrs. My husband Mahmood was taken by ICE into detention on the morning of Sept 24th 2019. He was picked up from work at 9:30am and taken to ICE offices in Burlington, Massachusetts where he was later on that evening transferred to Wyatt detention in Rhode Island. I received a call from his boss at work that he had been taken. I was left helpless as he was the one providing for the family. We had just had a baby girl who was 6weeks old then.
He's still in detention as we await the judge's decision. My biggest problem is finances. Everything is on me and I've to take care of the baby too. I'm running behind on everything and in fear of being thrown out of our apartment. I'm asking for help.
If we can raise $8000 to help me while we wait and I'm only working a few hours because I've to stay with the baby as daycare and babysitters are way expensive for me to pay for.

While Mahmood continues his fight to remain in the community, let's rally around his loved ones, and make real our commitment to fight for one another as family.
If we rally together and share resources as a community, we can help demonstrate our collective opposition to this oppressive and inhumane system that imprisons our neighbors, separates families, and harms communities.
These funds are being collected by the Boston Immigration Justice Accompaniment Network, which works to support all of our neighbors locked away in immigration detention. Learn more at beyondbondboston.org.
