Hi Family and Friends,
I'm Caroline and I'm fundraising for my brother Joe's family, who have recently been hit with a series of significant difficulties. After our Dad, Bill Jr., passed away on Father's Day in 2019, the restaurant and bulding he owned in Montana finally sold this year. Unfortunately, the loan that Dad had on the property was more than Joe could get from the sale. As a result, they have hit upon very hard times, financially and emotionally.
Furthermore, in clearing out the property before the sale, Joe had a serious fall and fully broke his leg and had to have surgery on his knee. He is still experiencing a lot of pain and can't lift anything heavy. This resulted in him having difficulty working. He is currently working in light agricultural work which doesn't pay enough to fully support his family.
Due to the hardship, the five younger kids have been staying at me and Janie's homes in Southern California, and the older child is living at the home of a family friend. As you can imagine, this has been a strain on all of the family. We all know that the best place for children is with their parents.
Currently, Joe's wife has been applying for Veteran's benefits, but the process was delayed. Now things are at a critical point with no housing (They are living in a camper), an unreliable vehicle, and limited income. We are all supporting the search for low cost housing in Montana, or surrounding states, in areas where they will be able to find jobs. They also need to settle close to a Veteran's hospital for medical care. The few properties they can afford that are large enough for the whole family (that fall within their budget) are scooped up quickly.
As you can imagine, this situation is unsustainable and the mental toll has been enormous. We are heartbroken at the loss of their quality of life and we are frustrated with the barriers to getting the situation solved. Sadly, we have our own limited resources (e.g., I recently became unemployed after my branch closed and am having difficulty finding daytime-only work in my field so that I can be home with the kids after school).
As a result of this combination of difficulties, we are seeking your support to help Joe and his wife get back on their feet, get their kids back home where they belong, and improve their quality of life.
We need ANGELS!!
