If you know Jessie Phair, you know she has spent her entire life showing up for others. A caregiver at heart, Jessie has worked in healthcare for more than 20 years — supporting patients, families, friends, and neighbors with the kind of steady kindness that makes the world feel safer.

This year, Jessie took a step back to care for her own health. In the process, she received challenging news: a diagnosis of early-stage breast cancer. The good news is that Jessie’s cancer is treatable, and her doctors are optimistic. But treating it fully will require one or more surgeries and a course of radiation therapy between December and January.

Even with insurance, the financial burden is already significant. Each diagnostic procedure has come with co-pays in the hundreds, and with a new deductible resetting in January, the out-of-pocket costs for surgery, radiation, and follow-up care will be substantial.
