Jessica Armstrong is a dedicated teacher at Foothill High School in Henderson, Nevada. I have the privilege of being her supervising administrator. She has always gone above and beyond for her students, giving her time, energy, and heart to help them succeed. Now, Jessica and her family are facing an unimaginable challenge that no parent should ever have to endure.

Recently, Jessica’s 4-year-old son, Grayson, was diagnosed with Batten disease—a rare, terminal, and aggressive neurological disorder that has turned their world upside down. As Jessica and Rhett navigate the emotional and physical toll of this diagnosis, they are also facing mounting medical expenses and the loss of wages from taking time off work to care for Grayson. The financial strain is significant, and the road ahead will require ongoing support for treatments, therapies, and daily care.

Batten disease is often called 'childhood dementia.' It is a cruel condition that gradually strips away a child's ability to speak, move, see, and swallow. For a vibrant 4-year-old like Grayson, the road ahead involves intensive medical interventions, specialized therapies, and around-the-clock care.
