Today, we received the unimaginable news that my aunt Jennifer, my uncle Shawn, and my cousins Abby and Isaac lost their home — and everything they had — to a devastating house fire.
In just moments, the place where they built memories, celebrated holidays, raised their children, and loved their animals was completely destroyed. The home is still standing, in part, but everything they own is damaged and the home is uninhabitable until further notice. Nothing could have prepared them for the heartbreak they are facing now.
Jennifer is one of the sweetest, most generous people I have ever known — the type of person who gives without being asked, who loves deeply, and who always finds a way to see the good in others. To see her and her family go through something this tragic is absolutely crushing.
Along with losing the the place they call home, the fire claimed the lives of three of their beloved cats. One of their dogs was rushed to an emergency vet with life-threatening injuries, and their surviving animals are shaken and traumatized. Vet bills are currently exceeding $5800+, and 2 animals still require care (Pixie & Penelope). Thankfully, none of the family members were home at the time of the fire, and we are grateful they were physically unharmed — but the emotional weight of this loss is immense.
Our family is one built on faith, and we trust God’s presence even in the hardest moments. We are asking for prayers — prayers of comfort, protection, strength, and guidance for Jennifer, Shawn, Abby, and Isaac as they navigate the painful road ahead. Your prayers mean just as much as any donation.
This heartbreaking loss comes just as the holidays approach — a time when their home would have otherwise been filled with warmth, tradition, and family. Instead, they are now displaced, grieving, and trying to rebuild from nothing.
They face immediate needs for emergency housing; food and daily essentials; replacing clothing and personal items; and covering the urgent medical expenses for their injured dog. Any support during this time — whether through giving, praying, or sharing their story — will help lift a tremendous burden from their shoulders.
For those who would prefer to donate directly, I (Audrey) am happy to collect funds through Venmo (@EVERevents-designco) and deliver them to Jennifer and Shawn this week. I am also able to coordinate collecting essential items, such as clothing or basic necessities. If you would like to send items directly, I can provide a delivery address — please feel free to reach out to me.
Thank you for surrounding Jennifer, Shawn, Abby, and Isaac with love, faith, and compassion. Your kindness will help carry them through this unimaginable season of loss and guide them toward healing and restoration.
