Hi, my name is Javier Sanabria, and I’m starting this GoFundMe to support my father after he was taken by ICE.

About 30 years ago, my dad came to this country legally as a professional boxer. Over time, through hard work and determination, he built his own construction business from the ground up. That business is one of his proudest achievements. But today, it’s struggling and at risk of collapsing because he’s no longer here to run it.

But beyond everything he built, his greatest achievement has always been his family.

When I was about 3 years old, my biological father left. Shortly after, my dad came into my life. He had a choice, he didn’t have to raise another man’s child, but he chose to. Later, even after he and my mom separated, he could have walked away. But he didn’t. He stayed. He chose me, again and again.

For the past 15 years, he has been my father in every way that matters, the person I look up to, the one who taught me respect, discipline, and right from wrong. We’ve shared so many memories. But I’m only 19 years old and I’m not ready for those memories to stop.
