Last year, many of you helped support Marcos and Ricardo, two young immigrants trying to build a life here while waiting for their work permits. Thanks to your generosity, they made it through. Now, their other family members—Lien, Oneida, Silvio, and Mercedes—are facing the kind of hardship no one should have to endure. Lien is diabetic and battling skin cancer, and her 74-year-old mother Oneida has kidney ketosis and diabetes. They are unable to afford the medicine they need to live. Food prices in their home country are rising dramatically, and their sons cannot make enough to keep helping. Silvio, Lien's son, is a recent immigrant to the US with a young baby. The new administration terminated the work authorization for thousands of legal immigrants in April 2025, and he was impacted. I have been providing income for housing, food, and bills since that time, but I have run out of funds. Mercedes, Ricardo’s grandmother, survives solely on what little Ricardo can send—but it’s no longer enough as food prices are skyrocketing.
We are raising funds to provide food, housing, and medicine to carry these families through the next few months. Please consider making another donation if you have previously. If you are new, thank you for your consideration. The funds you give will determine if these folks have adequate housing, medicine, and food. Every communication I receive is one of deep gratitude and tears of relief when help is provided. Please know you are making a difference with every donation.
