This past weekend our dear friend Otilia lost her husband, Hubert Cross age 35 in an unthinkable tragedy, leaving her, their families and friends in complete shock and devastation.
Hubert was a loving husband, father to two young children Emma (4), little Hubert (1), and friend. The name Hubert means “bright heart.” On Saturday, March 21st Hubert was assisting a friend. On this night, the person became violent and killed Hubert. There is no easy way to say that. Hubert was helping a friend in need and it killed him. We are so heartbroken. Hubert loved his family. His family loved him. On Friday, March 13th right before the shelter-in-place order he watched his little girl break boards and earn her orange belt. He was a trivia buff (and along with his wife were regulars at the Library’s trivia night), spoke multiple languages and enjoyed his job as a software engineer. His children look just like him.
We are reaching out to anyone who would be willing to contribute to this fund to assist the family with food, rent and upcoming expenses. We have begun a meal train and individual families are doing their best to make sure the family has dinners every night. Otilia is a devoted and exceptional mother. In addition to caring for her family full-time, she had been strengthening our community by presenting at the Spanish Storytime programming at the Live Oak Branch Library. We need the help of the community to help this family, and our dear friend survive this unthinkable event.
Thank you for your consideration.
