On Sept 21st my sister, Heidi Meier found herself homeless. Due to the recent rains her rental property had become flooded and subsequently a very toxic Mold grew which nearly killed her and her dog, Windy. Because of the severity of her reaction, she cannot even come in contact with any of her belongings. She virtually lost everything. She did have the best possible renters insurance, however mold damage is not covered. Here she thought by having the best policy, she would be able to recoup some of her losses, both financially and medically but to no avail. She had contacted several lawyers and none are willing to take on a Mold case Not only is she dealing with this right now, she has underlying health issues including Ehler's danlos Syndrome and Spondylitis. She is on disability and is able to work just 15-20 hours per week before her pain and immobility kick in. However with this current reaction to mold she struggles even putting in those hours. The mold has resulted in several ER visits where she was unable to breathe and was affecting her ability to think. Day to Day functioning has become extremely difficult. She has since found housing and was able to list Windy as a therapy dog so she could have her loving canine companion back with her. We hope with proper treatment and being away from all that was contaminated, she will get better. She just needs help replacing and paying for clothing, household necessities, doctor's visits, medications and several trips to the ER. Thank you for reading this and any amount is appreciated!
