Hi, my name is Dakotah, and I’m reaching out for help during one of the most difficult times of my life.
I am the full-time, 24/7 caregiver for both of my grandparents. My grandmother is 75 years old and is battling brain cancer. She has already undergone two brain surgeries, and the cost of her medical care has reached into the hundreds of thousands of dollars. My grandfather is 76 and has dementia. Between the two of them, they require constant supervision, physical assistance, and daily care.
When their health significantly declined, I made the decision to leave my job and most of my family back in Delaware so I could care for them full-time. Due to the level of care they require around the clock, I am unable to work and currently have no source of income.
While caring for them is something I do out of love, the financial strain has become overwhelming. Managing serious, ongoing medical conditions while trying to cover basic living expenses has brought us to a point where we can no longer manage on our own.
Funds raised will help cover:
Rent and essential household bills
Utilities, groceries, and basic necessities
Medical expenses not fully covered by insurance
Medications, medical supplies, and caregiving needs
Transportation to medical appointments
My goal is to keep my grandparents safe, comfortable, and at home for as long as possible. Asking for help is not easy, but it is now necessary. Any donation—no matter the size—will go directly toward their care and our ability to stay afloat. If you’re unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser would mean just as much.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story and for any support you’re able to give.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Dakotah Johnson
