As most of you know, Frances has been facing complex problems with eating. As a result, she has had a g-tube placed and we started using a feeding pump. She has been receiving in-home feeding therapy since September of last year and we have seen no progress with oral intake.

Last week, we were discharged from feeding therapy with our therapist saying there was nothing more she had to offer. Frances is a total mystery. None of her specialists have any idea what is going on.

Our current struggle is with poor weight gain and projectile vomiting. Frances is on several medications and we are now controlling how fast (or in this case, slow) her feeds go in, with not any reduction in the episodes of vomiting she is experiencing. This is extremely upsetting for me and for her. It is extremely trying and the financial stress is an added barrier.

I had not planned to be off of work for as long as I have been. Because Frances has special needs, she needs special care that only I or my family can provide, meaning I will be off work for the foreseeable future. I am very lucky that I am well supported by a village of people that love Frances. However, the financial struggle is intensifying as time goes by.
