Support for family following multiple immigration detentions

Hi, my name is aaron. I'm putting up this fundraiser on behalf of folks who i have come to know through working with an organization that supports immigrants in New York state (particularly on the lands of member nations of the Haudenausaunee Confederacy).

All proceeds from this fundraiser will go to Heidi who lives on the east coast. Heidi's brother in-law (her husband's brother) ended up detained by ICE (after being detained with his partner and two kids by US border officers on the Canadian border for several weeks) a few months ago. When Heidi's brother in-law was told that he'd be allowed out of ICE detention and into Canada if the family could scrape together $12,000 in bond, Heidi sold her car for a few thousand dollars, borrowed the rest -- putting her family into debt -- and paid the bond. He was released and is now safely reunited with his family!

Less than two weeks after his brother's release, while Heidi and her family were still figuring out how to pay the debt, Heidi's husband was picked up by ICE (despite her being a US citizen and him having been approved for a green card through their marriage). He has since been transferred to an ICE prison in Texas and remains detained.

The purpose of this fundraiser is to support Heidi in being able to buy a car to be able to get to work and to pay off most of the debts from the first bond so that her family can stabilize financially. These are both crucial as Heidi will likely need to find money to pay another absurdly expensive immigration bond to get her husband out before ICE deports him illegally to El Salvador, where he would likely be disappeared into a Bukele prison like Jordin Melgar Salmeron, Kilmar Abrego García, and so many others not covered in the news cycle.
