On the morning of September 9th, my aunts husband and her son-in-law were detained by ICE outside of their home on their way to work. They have lived here for almost 13 years now, but after Wednesday, they have to leave the only place their children have ever called home. My cousin and her husband have three kids, one of them was born here. The men were taken to the Buffalo detention center and pressured into signing voluntary exit form. One of them has heart problems and takes 5 different types of medication a night. Today, they were randomly transferred to Louisiana. One of them reported some type of abuse, and we are unsure if the other is getting the medical attention he needs. The family had agreed to self deport/voluntary exit. The women haven’t been contacted by anyone other than the short phone calls they receive from the men. Right now the family is in the process of packing up, but ICE also took their passports. They have no way of leaving, and no stable communication with their family. I am hoping to get them a lawyer if time allows, and if not the money will go to their living expenses to a country none of their children know. I attached the only photo I could find right now, but anything helps!
