UPDATE: 

The student’s father remains in Texas. We have used these funds to hire a lawyer in Texas. The second family has been returned home. Unfortunately their Documents were taken. We are also using these funds to help with that. Please know that these funds are being used to help many families affected at this time. It will be used for lawyer fees, rent, food, and anything else to keep our families safe. We have a team of people meeting to make sure these funds are being used in the best possible way.

UNFORTUNATE UPDATE:

This has happened again. This time not only two parents were taken but two children from our schools. Please continue to donate so we can advocate for these kids and families with the help of a lawyer.

Hi! I’m a teacher at an elementary school in Minnesota. Yesterday a student's father was unlawfully detained, and sent to Texas. He is legally here on a work Visa. The family now does not have access to income and resources. To help with legal costs, food, and other living supplies we are asking for your help! Please help they have two children.

Please note, this may happen to other families in our community. We plan to cover the needs of this family and as new issues arise these funds may also be used for other families in need in our community.
