On October 5th, our family has seen a drastic change.
My husband has always been the cornerstone of our family — caring for our four children, managing their transportation, attending appointments, and supporting their after-school activities. He’s the one who keeps our family moving, who ensures our kids thrive in every part of their lives.
Early that morning, as he was leaving for work, he encountered an attempted robbery of his vehicle and was shot by the assailant.
Because of the shooting, he needs full-time care. The daily rhythm of our family has been turned upside down. Watching him, someone so strong and giving, struggle with basic tasks is heartbreaking, and stepping into the role of sole caregiver has been overwhelming.
The financial burden has added another layer of stress. Transitioning from a two-income household to one, coupled with medical bills for a husband without health insurance, has been daunting. Everyday expenses — groceries, gas, household essentials — quickly add up, leaving us struggling to stay afloat while focusing on his recovery.
This is not just a story of hardship — it is a story of resilience, love, and the power of community. Every act of kindness, whether it’s a donation, a share, or even a prayer, helps keep our family together and gives my husband the space he needs to heal.
With love and gratitude,
