In Loving Memory of Eslam Hegazy: Support for His Wife and Children
On Wednesday, February 25, 2026, our community was shattered by the tragic loss of our brother, Eslam Hegazy. While suffering a mental health crisis, Eslam was shot and killed by police in front of his own home. He was only 38 years old.
Eslam was a deeply kind and genuine soul who left a lasting impression on everyone he met. He was a regular attendee of the Islamic Organization of the Southern Tier (IOST) where he was known as a man of warmth and sincerity.
His sudden and violent passing has left his family and our entire community in deep mourning. He was a loving dad and husband. He leaves behind a beautiful family who now faces an unimaginable future without him: his wife, Dr. Eman Elatter, and three young children (8 and 7 year old daughter and a five month old son).
The Islamic Organization of the Southern Tier (IOST) is coming together to raise these funds to ensure that financial stress is not an added burden for his wife and her three young children during this time of immense trauma.
How You Can Help:
We ask you to give whatever you can to support Eslam’s family. Your contributions will go directly to his wife to help with immediate expenses and the long-term care of their children.
Please keep Eslam and his family in your prayers. May Allah (SWT) grant him the highest level of Jannah, protect his children, and grant his family Sabr (patience) through this difficult trial.
Jazakum Allahu Khairan for your generosity and your prayers.
