<div>On Wednesday, February 25, 2026, our community was shattered by the tragic loss of our brother, Eslam Hegazy. While suffering a mental health crisis, Eslam was shot and killed by police in front of his own home. He was only 38 years old.
</div>

<div>Eslam was a deeply kind and genuine soul who left a lasting impression on everyone he met. He was a regular attendee of the Islamic Organization of the Southern Tier (IOST) where he was known as a man of warmth and sincerity.
</div>

<div>His sudden and violent passing has left his family and our entire community in deep mourning. He was a loving dad and husband. He leaves behind a beautiful family who now faces an unimaginable future without him: his wife, Dr. Eman Elatter, and three young children (8 and 7 year old daughter and a five month old son).

<div>The Islamic Organization of the Southern Tier (IOST) is coming together to raise these funds to ensure that financial stress is not an added burden for his wife and her three young children during this time of immense trauma.

<div>This fundraiser is being organized by the Islamic Organization of the Southern Tier (IOST) on behalf of Dr. Eman Elatter and her three children. IOST leadership is working directly with Dr. Elatter and has her full permission to raise and manage these funds.

<div>All donations will be transferred directly to Dr. Eman Elatter via bank transfer. The funds will be used to support immediate expenses and the long-term care and well-being of her children.
