On Father’s Day, my son Emilyo was enjoying time with his three boys—Adonis (5), Drayson (10), and Jakoby (11)—riding BMX bikes and making memories. What started as a fun day quickly turned into a nightmare. After a fall, Emilyo’s leg began to swell, but he tried to rest and push through the pain. He didn’t want to miss his only daughter Adrianna (12) receiving an academic award, so he waited until after her ceremony to seek medical help. By then, the damage was severe: a broken knee, tibia, and fibula, with nerve damage and blood clots. Doctors are doing everything they can, but now he faces the possibility of amputation.

Emilyo is a carpenter and the sole provider for his family of six. With four young children and his wife depending on him, this sudden crisis has left them struggling to cover even basic household needs. They already live week to week, and now the uncertainty of medical recovery and lost income has made things even harder.
