Elijah Cherington is a young child currently in the hospital for the second time in a month, and his family is facing an incredibly difficult period. Elijah has been unable to breathe without oxygen for seven days, and doctors have not yet found a diagnosis. His parents, Chanelle Hackney and Terry Cherington, are under immense stress as they care for Elijah and worry about his uncertain recovery. Chanelle, the main source of income for the family, has taken time off work to be by Elijah’s side and has exhausted her paid leave. Terry continues to work, but his income is less than half of Chanelle’s, making it even harder to keep up with expenses. Audrey, the grandmother, is providing daycare for the other children to help the family manage during this crisis.

The family’s financial needs are urgent and wide-ranging. They are working hard to cover their mortgage, medical bills, travel expenses to and from the hospital, and everyday essentials like groceries. With Chanelle unable to work and Terry supporting their children at home, the risk of falling behind on bills and potentially losing their home is a real concern.
