Support for Designers Leaving Omaha Fashion Week

Donativo protegido
TLDR: A group of concerned citizens is raising money for designers who would like to drop out of Omaha Fashion Week (OFW) following their 8/13 social media post.

During the spring 2025 season of OFW, a designer showcased a design with a swastika displayed on the back of a jacket. While the designer claimed the garment did not include a swastika, her design was removed from the show after it hit the runway the first time. Omaha Fashion Week posted a statement standing against hate symbols and stating that the designer was permanently banned from participating in OFW in the future.

Late on Wednesday August 13th, Omaha Fashion Week posted a joint statement with Brook Hudson, Mary “Buf” Reynolds-Secher, and Kelli Molczyk (the designer). The statement retracted Molczyk’s ban from OFW and excused her of all wrongdoing.

While this statement was originally sent to the news around August 4th, it was not posted on social media on August 13th. It is obvious that Omaha Fashion Week attempted to hide this information from its active community in order to secure more ticket sales and designers for their fall 2025 show.

At this point, designers are left with an impossible choice: lose out on the money they have sunk into this show or walk in a show that sympathizes with Nazi imagery. For this reason, a group of concerned citizens is working on raising money for designers who would like to cancel their appearance at Omaha Fashion Week.

Any money that is not claimed by designers will be donated to Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP).
