Our dear friend Debra Olivarez just celebrated her 61st birthday this past week—Happy Birthday, Deb! Most of us can remember blowing out birthday candles and making a wish. They say you can't tell anyone your wish or it won't come true, but when it comes to prayer, there are no secrets between you and God. These days for Deb, it feels like her peace is in pieces—shattered and scattered. Her saving grace has been her faith and love for God, which has recently given her the courage to open up to us about her condition and the struggles she's been facing.
About two years ago, Debra was diagnosed with both Uterine and Thyroid Cancer. In addition, she also has Lupus. She had been working in home health, but when her last patient went into hospice, she needed to stop working and focus on her own health. As you might imagine, this took a severe physical, emotional, and financial toll on her life. Debra admits that currently her health is being neglected. Doctors are insisting on appointments, ultrasounds, and other exams, but the question of "Where am I resting my head?" takes the focus each night. Her illnesses need attention, and she needs stability in regards to where she can rest, heal, and recover.
Debra has been without a home for a year and a half, sleeping in her car—which only adds to the aches and pains already there from Lupus. We are hoping to raise funds to give Deb some support, relief, and encouragement. Your support will help her access the medical care she needs, secure stable housing, and restore hope during this difficult time. Any contribution, no matter the size, will make a difference in her journey. Thank you for your kindness and prayers.
