UPDATE: Dec 18, 2025

We just wanted to post an update to thank the community for their support so far and I wanted to share some words from Crysta (Weaver) Leonard’s mom, Cheryl Shorey Andrews, as I feel like she says it best.

“The love my family and I have receiving from this community has been so overwhelming and we so appreciate it. God has just not given us a new little gift to care for Marlow Blake but each and every one of you. There will never be away to ever say thank you to everyone but from the bottom of our heart we are so grateful and thank you for you prayers. With God and each of you my family have been able to weather the storm God bless all.” -Cheryl Shorey Andrews

Dear family and friends and all of those who may not know my family… My name is Ashley Cunningham and I am setting up this GoFundMe for my brother David Leonard.

During this time I would like to ask for support for my brother and his beautiful newborn baby, Marlow Blake. We are all at a loss of words with everything going on so I will let my brother’s words speak for themselves.

“These past few days have been confusing, happy, sad, beautiful and miserable. Crysta Renee Leonard delivered our healthy baby girl Marlow Blake Saturday night at 946pm. After delivery, she had massive complications that caused her to have to be rushed into emergency surgery. She did well in the surgery but the hours after we're not so kind on her body. My beautiful wife passed away this morning. There was not a more undeserving person for this to happen to. Crysta dont you worry, our baby girl will always know, love and celebrate you. We will let you guide us down this journey we are about to face. I love you always and forever.” - David Leonard

David and family will be learning to navigate this journey in a way they never expected to have to. Being out of work, taking care of baby Marlow, and having the stress of medical bills amongst monthly bills and living expenses can be overwhelming on their own without the major loss of a loved one.

I am making this with permission of David Leonard and Crysta’s mother, Cheryl Shorey Andrews, to help alleviate this stress and let them focus on healing and taking care of baby.

We appreciate all the love and care that we have been shown so far and could not be more grateful for the support, care, and understanding at this time.
