Support for Cori: NICU and Home Repairs
Donation protected
Hi friends — I’m reaching out on behalf of a family close to our hearts who is going through an unimaginable time. They would never ask for help themselves, but I know how much support could mean to them right now.
While out of state, mom went into labor unexpectedly at just 22 weeks and nearly lost her life and their baby. Their daughter — a long-awaited IVF miracle- was born on May 2nd, weighing just 1 lb 5 oz. Against all odds, Cori is bravely fighting in the NICU, growing stronger by the day. Her parents have remained out of state ever since, staying by her side during this critical chapter of her life.
While they’ve been gone, their home flooded due to a clogged AC condensation pump, damaging the living room, basement, and stairwell. Black mold has since developed, and the remediation is extensive. Mold was also found in the hardwood floors upstairs, which now need to be replaced to make the home safe.
Insurance will help cover some of the water damage, property replacement, and mold remediation, but not fully. They also need to replace their air conditioning unit, which is essential for their medically fragile preemie who cannot be exposed to heat or poor air quality.
Only one parent is currently able to work — and even that has been intermittent. Once their baby is stable enough to leave the hospital, they plan to take unpaid medical caregiver leave in order to bond with their daughter at home and provide the intensive support she will need, including ongoing medical care and early intervention services.
This fundraiser will go toward:
• Mold remediation and repairs
• Replacing damaged flooring
• A new air conditioning unit
• General support during unpaid medical leave
If you’re able to give — or even just share this — it would mean the world to this family. Your support will help them create a safe, stable space to finally bring their daughter home. Thank you so much for being here.
