On the 17th of April 2024 our friend and colleague David Cooper suffered a life changing Stroke. Thankfully, he and Daniel Healy had been to a business meeting together and Dan managed to get Coops to the Hospital, ultimately saving his life. For the first 36 hours David's life was in the balance. Because of Daniel's quick response and the incredible staff at Leeds Hospital, David is alive and recovering from his ordeal.
David suffered a bleed on the brain which caused him to have a stroke. He was taken by ambulance from Wakefield Hospital to Leeds Infirmary where a surgeon was waiting to operate on his brain to remove the pressure the bleed had caused. The areas of his brain which were damaged have severely affected his vision, memory, speech & language, which he is currently receiving therapy for. Luckily, he is totally mobile.
As many would agree, David is one of the kindest, most generous men I have had the pleasure of knowing. He has worked hard to support his wife Lisa, and his two daughters Lois and Holly. David was dedicated to his job and the network of clients he supported with his team; sometimes travelling incredible distances and working an extraordinary number of hours to maintain relationships, with whom he made personal friendships
Because of our friendship I have had the pleasure of spending some magic moments with Coops all over the world. However, during these times, it wasn't unusual for David to pull out his laptop and work. On flights, hotels, and airport lounges, he would always take time to prioritise his commitments.
David has worked tirelessly for 9 years. His strong work ethics commended by all who know him, alongside a strong character, in depth knowledge and experience, has been instrumental in building strong business relationships. Sadly, Coops must now rely on SSP and has done for many months, heaping significant pressure on his family.
Unfortunately, David didn't have life or private medical insurance, and his ongoing recovery is going to be a slow and long process. It’s entirely possible he may never fully recover. Whilst he is fit and young in comparison to many Stroke victims, he is unable to work and needs external support to relearn many things we would all take for granted.
All I ask is we consider all the wonderful times we have enjoyed with David, and all the acts of kindness he has extended to us as his friends, clients, partners, and suppliers. My life is richer because I know David, and I’m sure you all have your own fond memories too.
Please give whatever you can to support David and his family. All the money raised will go towards maintaining mortgage payments and the upkeep of the family home.
