Support for Coach Pete Wilk and Family

Donation protected
For 30+ years, Coach Pete Wilk has been a life-impacting coach, mentor, and colleague through a career developing the values and character of young adults. He is a loving father and husband, who grew up in Barrington, RI playing baseball for the Barrington Eagles, and then the Rollins College Tars in Winter Park, FL. He is a dear friend to so many among the Georgetown University, Harvard University, Boston University, and Vermont Lake Monsters baseball communities, the Rhode Island contingent (including members of the Klatch), and the Annandale, VA neighborhood where he and his family now reside.

The love, compassion, and respect for Pete is captured in the following statement from the Georgetown University Baseball Alumni Community:

"For over 25 years, Pete has recruited, coached, and mentored hundreds of student-athletes. He has been a safeguard and trusted guardian for parents sending their child away from home for the first time. He is a humble and uncommonly loyal human being who is deeply passionate about the game of baseball and building teams that bond with an enduring fabric. Over 20 years, he became the patriarch and one great common denominator of an incredible Georgetown baseball alumni family that will last for generations to come."

The Wilk Family is facing a series of tough battles as Pete embarks on his campaign against Glioblastoma (GBM) Brain Cancer. Circles of loving friends have unselfishly provided unbelievable support already.

This site is created, at the request of several groups, to provide at least one way for people who wish to donate to the family to have a method to do so. At this time details of the treatment are not clear, so a fundraising target is not fixed, and as such, it is set as $1. Your donations will enable the Wilk's to focus their energy and strength on the most critical action: fighting this disease.

Donations will be used to:
- Ensure the family is not severely impacted economically by costs or logistics related to treatment
- Provide help to simplify life during treatment such as housekeeping, shopping, lawn care, etc.
- Offer the family opportunities to make new memories and enjoy time together away from the battle
- Afford conveniences such as meal options so it's one less daily item to stress over
- Establish a college fund for their 2 daughters
- Provide the family with longer-term support as needed
- Raise awareness of brain cancer and support research with leftover funds

In December 1944, the US Army - 101st Airborne F Company was encircled by the enemy and received a long-form Request of Surrender. The Request itemized a list of the challenges, the environment, and what may happen. The US commander's response, in absolute and succinct defiance, simply stated "Nuts!". Pete and the Wilk family respond in kind, and are ready for this battle.

Whether through this site or any other means, please send your love and support to the Wilk family.
