Support for Chris Mendes’ Family: Fallen Marine and Father

Dear Friends and Community,

It is with a heavy heart that I share the passing of my dear friend and fellow Marine, Chris Mendes. He served our country with honor and bravery, deploying with me to Afghanistan in 2012 and completing another combat deployment thereafter. Tragically, he passed away at the young age of 32 due to acute organ failure, leaving behind his loving wife, Kay Mendes, and their three young boys, Thomas, Liam, and Carter.

Chris was not only a dedicated Marine but also a devoted husband and father. Chris touched the lives of so many individuals both in and out of the Corps. His legacy lives on in his family and with the impacts he had on the rest of us.

His family meant the world to him, and he worked tirelessly to provide for them. Now, in the wake of this devastating loss, his family faces significant emotional and financial challenges.
