Support for Carol's Needs

UPDATE: We reached our initial goal of $3,000 on February 15. Thanks to all the people who gave generously to support Carol's needs! This will enable her to get caught up on outstanding expenses.
I spoke with Carol this morning and she now has a plan to finish the bathroom on the lower floor of her house so the entire downstairs space can be rented out. She has already lined up people willing to do the work for free (or nearly so) but needs to raise an additional $2000 for materials. Completing this project and renting out the downstairs space should enable her to maintain a more balanced budget, which would be a huge step forward. Therefore, I have raised her fundraising goal to $5,500 to help her complete the project. The related photo campaign, as explained below, will continue in support of this effort.

Carol Rodriquez is a friend and sister in Christ. I met Carol last year when a mutual friend shared a fundraiser on Facebook. The fundraiser was launched to help keep Carol in her home. Carol has suffered, and continues to suffer, through many health-related trials. She has been diagnosed with fourth-stage congestive heart failure and is dealing with some inoperable complications. She still lives in her family home in Napa, a lovely place that she is very comfortable with and has been properly altered to accommodate her needs. But all these physical challenges have put a strain on her finances and it has been terribly difficult for her to keep pace. She has been under a lingering threat of losing her home.
Carol is, without a doubt, one of the sweetest people I have ever met. I was in regular contact with her after participating in that initial fundraiser and she graciously invited me to a celebration of life that she held at her house in Napa. I had the chance to help in the effort to get everything ready and meet several close friends before the festivities began. Over the course of the evening, I heard and saw the love that so many people have for Carol. She has touched many, many lives - including mine, in the all-too-brief time we have known each other.
The Apostle Paul wrote, "For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them (Ephesians 2:10)." Jesus also taught His disciples, "Whoever gives one of these little ones even a cup of cold water because he is a disciple, truly, I say to you, he will by no means lose his reward (Matthew 10:42)." I believe God brought me into Carol's life during this particular season to help her using the resources and talents He has given me, and in fulfillment of His Word, I ask you to join me in this effort.
