Support for Bethany Abrams and family

As so many of you have recently learned, Nathan Abrams passed away suddenly on August 10th, 2021. As his wife, Bethany, put it in his obituary, “Nate had suffered valiantly since September 2019 with a rare cancer (pseudomyxoma peritonei), but today his mighty and loving heart just stopped beating. We are at once filled with the greatest pain we can possibly imagine over this separation - and also filled with the deepest peace in knowing that Nate is whole, healed, and in heaven with his Lord and Savior. He was a beloved husband, father, son, and brother, and a fighter to the core. His family (Bethany, and children Shakaila (14), Driya (11) and Sadiq (8) ) was his world, and his reason for living. Nate enjoyed serving and working at Fellowship Deaconry in Bernards Township, and in his church, The Maranatha Fellowship, in Fairfield. He was considered "a rock" to some, and a "rescue hero" to others, with a particular heart for youth.

With the loss of her husband, partner and best friend, Bethany’s life has suddenly been turned upside-down. She is now in the process of grieving this indescribable loss, but must continue to put one foot in front of the other as a single mother and the sole provider for her three children. Some of the challenges that lie ahead for Bethany and her family are as follows:

  • Nate did not have a life insurance policy nor disability benefits. The disability benefits were in the process of being approved, but unfortunately, had not been finalized. Therefore, Bethany is left with no financial resources as she had been a stay-at-home, homeschooling mom, caregiver to Nate, and student in nursing school.
  • Additionally, one of Bethany’s children has a significant disability, and requires greater financial, educational and caregiving resources, which poses further financial challenges as Bethany will no longer be able to be his caregiver as she will need to find employment.
  • Bethany is currently a student in nursing school with two years remaining to graduate. It is very important that Bethany completes this program in order for her to be able to provide for her family. Nonetheless, Bethany’s education poses yet another financial challenge.
  • Bethany's schooling and clinical requirements will put heavy demands upon her time, limiting the amount of time available for work, especially as she continues to help her children through this hard time, and meet the needs of her severely disabled son.

We understand that these are difficult times; however, if you can find it in your heart to donate what you can, no amount is too small and is greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your love and support.
