Our family is devastated to share the sudden and tragic loss of our beloved Bernie on November 12, 2025.

Bernie was involved in a work accident that took his life far too soon. The accident happened at his workplace; heartbreakingly right next to the home he shared with my mother and nephew, making it incredibly difficult for them to find peace or comfort in the place they called home.

Bernie wasn’t just a husband or stepfather to us. He was a son, brother, uncle and much more. He was the heart of our family. He walked into the lives of a single mother of three and chose to love us as his own. He soon became the head of household and steady hand that kept everything running as the sole source of income for my mom and Connor. Him and my mother are also the legal guardians of my nine-year-old nephew Connor, who called him Poppy. Bernie was his protector, his safe place and his biggest supporter. Losing him has left an unimaginable hole in all of our hearts, especially Connor‘s (given that he is special needs it has made it increasingly difficult for him to understand what has happened).

We are raising funds to help my mother relocate and start over somewhere new away from the daily reminders of where this tragedy occurred. The funds will also go toward helping Connor have some joy this holiday season with Christmas fast approaching, given that Bernie‘s income has come to a stop.

His love, laughter, and selflessness touched everyone who knew him. Any support, no matter how small, means more than words can say as our family tries to heal and rebuild after this heartbreaking loss.

As of right now, we do not have details or arrangements made for a celebration of life, but will update everyone as soon as possible.
