Support for Baby Tom and his family.

Hi, my name is Orla and on 20th October 2024, I am going to take part in the AJ Bell Great South Run. I am hoping to raise some money for my nephew Tom and his family.

When Tom was 4 months old, he stopped breathing and had a spontaneous cardiac arrest in January 2022. As you can imagine it was a horrendous and traumatic day for us all and the weeks that followed were some of the most difficult and painful I have ever experienced.

Tom being the little fighter that he is, has defied all the odds and is still with us, although he has been left with a major brain injury resulting in lots of complex needs. This has changed Tom’s life and the lives of all who are close to him. The impact of Tom’s acquired brain injury have been life changing/devastating-however we have worked hard to give him the quality of life he deserves. Reducing work hours to care for Tom has put his family under huge financial strain.

The family have coped so far and would never ask for support therefore I have decided to ask on their behalf .

There are several things, such as sensory equipment, respite days and adapted clothes etc. that would benefit Tom, and make life easier for those that care for him.

Any money donated will positively impact Tom’s quality of life and also give the family some much needed support in what is an extremely challenging situation.
