Hi everyone,

As many of you know or may not know, I’m preparing to welcome my second sweet baby boy, Roman. What should be the most joyful time has also brought some unexpected challenges. Roman was diagnosed with a heart condition and will need open-heart surgery after birth, which means he will need to spend time in the hospital after birth—about two weeks of my maternity leave.

I will be taking 12 weeks off to be with him, but unfortunately, my job does not offer paid leave or FMLA protection. This means I will be on leave without pay during this critical time.

I want to be fully present for Roman’s care and recovery without the added stress of worrying how to cover essentials like rent, bills, and basic needs while we adjust and heal together.
