Beautiful Molly Dee Martens was born May 15 at 10:17pm weighing 5 lbs 15oz. After being born, there were some concerns regarding Molly potentially having seizures and some rigidity, so she was transferred to the NICU at Javon Bea Hospital in Rockford where she has been since her birth, 38 days and counting. Throughout her hospital stay, both Tim and Erin have been commuting from their home in DeKalb to Rockford everyday to be with Molly and care for her. Molly has been dealing with dysphagia, meaning she is currently having some issues swallowing. The hospital staff have done many tests including x-rays, ultrasounds, MRIs, and genetic panels, and so far nothing has come back with definitive answers. Molly recently had a g-tube placed to help her eat, and has been given medication to dry up her secretions. The goal is for her to get down to 1L of oxygen or less so she is able to finally go home and meet her dogs, Frankie and Murphy and her cat Rascal.
But coming home will also have its challenges. Tim and Erin will need to purchase medical equipment to assist Molly in her day-to-day and they will also need to set up follow up medical visits and early intervention therapy. In addition to these medical costs, they have growing medical costs from the stay in the NICU. We are reaching out to our Community of family and friends to ask for assistance with these costs. We want to support them, so they don't have to be financially burdened, and so that they can focus on Molly and her needs. If you are able, please donate to our GoFund Me. Tim and Erin are already extremely appreciative of everything family and friends have already done for them, and they constantly say they don't know how they are going to repay all of this kindness. The truth of the matter is - if we all helped each other out, the world would be a lot better place. With all the negativity in the world today, let's focus on helping this little angel and ensure she has everything she needs to thrive. We are so incredibly grateful for any donation that you are able to make, thank you so much for your support!
