As many of you know, Mathew was an incredible dad, brother, friend, and son. Anyone who knows Mat knows his entire life revolved around his 3-year-old Avayah. This was evident in every aspect of his life, he took her on countless trips, bike rides, hikes, and adventures. To say Mat was the proudest most loving father is a complete understatement. He was fully devoted to Avayah.
On Sunday, Fathers days, we knew something was incredibly wrong when we couldn’t get a hold of him. There is nothing that would’ve prevented him from celebrating Father’s day with his daughter. We are already struggling with unanswered questions as he has taken the bike trail to and from Carbondale hundreds of times, yet his body was found along the highway. Amongst the grief, we are facing the devastating realization that Mat will no longer be here to help financially support Avayah. Mathew and Vivi have always been a team and always made sure Avayah had everything she needed (groceries, clothes, daycare, the many activities Mat has enrolled her in, and all the costs that come with raising a happy 3 year old). Many of you have asked how to help financially, or in other ways. Any support for Avayah and her mom during this difficult time is incredibly helpful and appreciated. We are praying we get answers soon, and again thank you to anyone who has sent their condolences and shared their stories of him. Mathew was a bright light who will continue to shine bright through those of us who love him.
