Arien Sodan and her partner, Anthony Malave, welcomed their nephews into their home four years ago, creating a loving family of four. Last fall, Arien shared the joyful news that their family would soon grow to five, with a new baby expected in early July. Her pregnancy had been smooth and healthy until just two weeks ago, when everything changed unexpectedly.

Arien developed preeclampsia, a serious complication that can occur after 20 weeks of pregnancy. Her blood pressure rose dangerously high, and now her kidneys are failing. The only way to stop the progression of preeclampsia is to deliver the baby, but at just 32 weeks, her medical team is working hard to give the baby more time to develop. To protect her health and her baby's, Arien has been placed on modified bedrest and must stop working as a nurse. Overnight, the household went from two incomes to one, and because this happened so suddenly, disability insurance from work is not an option for them.
