As many of you already know, last week our club lost one of our much-loved players, Archie Hinde Neary ❤️
I don’t really know how to write this as no words feel anywhere near enough when it comes to Archie xx
Archie had been part of our club since he was 8 years old and, over all those years, became such a valuable, loyal teammate and friend to so many people across our club.
On the pitch, Archie will always be remembered for being such an unselfish player. From his role in centre midfield, he was always looking for the pass, bringing everyone else into play and making those around him feel included. And of course, we will never forget his wicked delivery from corners and free kicks!
But more importantly than anything Archie did on the pitch was the person Archie was at the heart of everything
He cared about everyone. He was the best teammate, the best friend and someone who always looked out for the people around him. He included everyone, showed kindness to everyone and always made people feel welcome. Archie just loved football, and he just loved to play.
Archie touched so many lives across our club, and so many players, coaches and parents will have memories of him that they will cherish forever ❤️
He didn’t just touch the lives of his own team either. He became such a huge part of so many other teams through always being there for his little brother, Zach. Archie would join in with nearly all of Zach’s sessions, always offering to help in any way he could. He would support the younger players with a high five, a fist pump, a hug or just a few encouraging words that always meant so much.
All of the players looked up to him and He became everyone’s friend ❤️❤️
Over this past year, after Archie was tragically diagnosed with cancer, he still continued to show up. He showed an incredible amount of resilience, courage and bravery, while still being the same kind, caring young man he always was.
Even while going through some of the toughest times imaginable, he still turned up with a smile on his face and continued to put other people before himself.
I know that has inspired so many of us across our club.
Seeing Archie win the league and cup with his team last season was so special. And being able to watch him help me personally with social media, coaching and photography over this past year has been something I will never forget. He inspired me in so many ways, and I feel incredibly lucky to have had that time with him.
Archie has touched so many lives, and he will always be a huge part of our club and our city family x
We want to do whatever we can to help all of Archie’s family over what is as an incredibly difficult time for them and pull together as a footballing and grassroots family to help them with whatever they may need during this very difficult time ❤️
