Ange is a long term resident of Christmas Island and is easily recognised when you come through the airport where she would check the goodies you would bring back to the island in her Biosecurity role. Ange was also employed at the Christmas Island Hospital as a Health Care Worker where she assisted islanders who were limited in their movements due to health, age, and other factors.
Ange is now in need of assistance as she faces the biggest challenge she has ever known while she battles the recent diagnosis of Motor Neuron Disease (MND).
There is no cure for MND and there is no time limit for Ange.
Ange will not be able to return to the island due to the limited mobility she faces. She will move into her parents house so she is close to the services she will need, but cannot leave the hospital she is currently in until her parents home meets disability access requirements for the wheelchair she will need to stay mobile.
Anyone with MND faces unique healthcare needs due to the progressive and debilitating nature of this condition. Ange will need to purchase a bed that can adjust and tilt to assist her as her condition deteriorates.
Ange, Chris, Josh and Luke have been overwhelmed with the outpouring of love, support and kindness shown by all.
If you are able, any donation you can make toward making Ange as comfortable as possible will be greatly appreciated. The island has always dug deep for help, this page will stay active for a few weeks, so please share with others to help Ange long term.
