My name is Jeanette and I am a member of the Dare community. My co-worker, Stephanie, recently lost her husband, Adan, to a tragic event which highlights the devastating impact of not addressing mental illness in Los Angeles.

A man from Adan's neighborhood, experiencing an episode of paranoia, had a firearm and took aim at Adan as he was crossing the street after running an errand. This event took place midweek, midday, and was not a targeted shooting. This tragedy could have happened to any one of us and may be a story of the times we are living in—the shooter's horrific and irreversible response to the stresses of our world and his own personal battles.

Adan was the loving father of five children and a loving husband, son, friend, and sibling. His loss has devastated a family and their community. Many fundraisers have been done to assist the family in paying for the expenses of Adan's funeral. The balance to cover this important ceremony of remembrance is $8,000.00.
