Support for Abandoned Nieces and Nephew

Please consider donating to my nieces and nephew. My sister has been in an abusive relationship with her husband for over 22 years. After the last assault on November 22 of this year, against her and my niece, she finally had the courage to leave. Our family was overjoyed as we came together with resources, and donations and love and support. We were starting to make plans with my sister to get on her feet when my sister left her children to return to the abuser. My niece was at the door begging her to stay and in fear that if she returned she may never come back alive. My 21, 20 and 17 year old nieces and nephew are left to fend for themselves. While family has taken them in and are trying to surround them with love and support, we are overwhelmed with the many needs of these young adults as they navigate the emotional, mental and physical trauma they have experienced for years. We will be working closely with them on making fiscally responsible decisions and teaching them basic life skills like cooking and personal finance.

As we figure out what’s next, many people have asked how they can help.

Our hope is to get the oldest set up in an apartment and supplement her income while she gets on her feet while also assisting my nephew with living expenses at school, and counseling for all three of them for a year. The money we raise will hopefully cover counseling for all three kids for a year, food, gas, legal fees for us to obtain guardianship, assistance with rent, utilities and car insurance and possibly help with purchasing a car.

We know this comes after an expensive holiday season. We appreciate whatever you can afford. And if you can’t afford anything, we appreciate your prayers and intentions for these kids to know that they are wanted and loved.
